About

Where I’m from: Greenville, SC

Where I trained: MFA from FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Meisner, Linklater, and the classics. Upright Citizen’s Brigade. Classes with Bob Krakower & Wynn Handman.

Who I remind you of: Mary-Louise Parker, Judy Greer, Jessica Hecht

What I love: Playing ridiculous and outlandish characters and somehow grounding them in a way that makes sense. If the part calls for it, going right up against the line of reality to make it work. Also nuance and subtlety. Ha.

Best part of grad school (besides meeting my husband): London study abroad. Shakespeare with Patsy Rodenburg, Voice with Charmian Hoare, and Playwrighting with Mark Wheatley of Theatre Complicité. Also getting my equity card and being invited to be a company member at The Asolo first year out.

Favorite roles to date: The woman track the The 39 Steps (which I’ve played three times)!, Billie Dawn in Born Yesterday, Lisa in Collected Stories, and Benvolio in Bang-Galore!

How long did I live in NYC?: 13 years in Astoria! I did Off-Broadway and tons of regional theatre, some indie films.

How did I get into acting?: I was painfully shy and found great joy in channeling different aspects of myself onstage / on-camera. I found it was the best way to explain to people that I had more to offer them than what they saw. It was / is the best way for me to connect with people.

Cool facts: I’ve been in the NYTimes twice, for Almost, Maine at The Florida Rep & for Delirium’s Daughters at The Clurman for a role I originated. I’ve also been pictured in American Theatre Magazine twice, for Enchanted April & Trying, both at The Asolo.

What I want to do more of: Developing new work, finding like-minded artists, film & TV, more, more, more!
